Information on the work of art at time of printing: “JOAN MIRÓ (1893). PERSONAGES, 1925. PRIVATE COLLECTION, PARIS. - Working in Paris, in 1925, Miró gave up the representation of a reality transposed, by reduction or enlargement, into fantastic terms. He went over to pure painting, and the pictures he began producing anticipate, thirty years in advance, the boldest steps taken by the tachistes. Against a light blue ground the brush elicits movements, and in this airy sky traces a few graphic signs: fine lines, casual twirls, sometimes dotted, a stroke of color, a question mark, buoyant signs of happy innocence on the loose. Balancing on the frontier of the perceptible, Miró maintains an infallible sense of design and rhythm.”
