Vintage 1950 hand tipped in lithograph of Picasso’s Ma Jolie (1914).

Commentary on the work circa 1950: Having reached its limit of development, Cubism is ceasing to be an end in itself and becoming merely a repertory of technical methods capable of being put to the service of other aesthetic ends. This celebrated picture combines, in a sort of grand finale, all the devices and discoveries of Cubism: the breaking-up of a subject into its clements, depth suggested by the superposition of planes, highlights created wholly in the artist's imagination, etc.

 8 1/8” x 9” lithograph hand tipped in on thick 10 x 11” paper.
