Vintage 1957 Renoir "Charles and George Durand-Ruel" Portrait Art Print

A stunning vintage reproduction of Renoir's Charles and George Durand-Ruel (1882). Charles and Georges Durand-Ruel were the two sons of Renoir's own art dealer and promoter Paul Durand-Ruel. The two young men sit in a confident pose in front of typically hazy greenery but the main concern of the artist is to paint the textures of their jackets and their realistic likenesses. Their expressions belong of a piece to Renoir’s penchant for reverie.

This lithograph is printed on one side only (9 7/8” x 7 7/8”) and hand tipped-in on a sheet of heavy paper.

Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) was a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. As a celebrator of beauty and especially feminine sensuality, it has been said that "Renoir is the final representative of a tradition which runs directly from Rubens to Watteau."
