A charming petite vintage offset lithograph of Dynamic Hieroglyphic of the Bal Tabarin, 1912. Image hand tipped-in on a sheet of heavy paper and affixed to chipboard backing for maximum ease in styling whether framing or propping.

Gino Severini (1882-1916) was an Italian painter and a leading member of the Futurist movement. For much of his life he divided his time between Paris and Rome. He was associated with neo-classicism and the "return to order" in the decade after the First World War.

In Dynamic Hieroglyph of the Bal Tabarin (1912), he retained the night life theme but incorporated the Cubist technique of collage (real sequins are fixed to the dancers' dresses) and such nonsensical elements as a realistic nude riding a pair of scissors.
