Vintage 1950 hand tipped in lithograph of Picasso’s The Aubade (1942).

Commentary on the work circa 1950:

AUBADE (1942). In his compositions of this order, Picasso applies himself to dissecting, so to speak, the human body, and employs its most significant elements in a composition poctically conceived but worked out with almost scientific precision. With its planes and lines adjusted to the organic necessities of its thythm and composition, this work illustrates the professionalism modern art has imposed on painting; there is here no question of telling a story for the entertainment of the casual art-lover.
